Rogue Community College’s Emergency Services Associate of Applied Science Degree prepares you for fast-paced careers in emergency medical services and fire service while helping you enter the workforce quickly as a paramedic. RCC offers several pathways to paramedic licensure, and this degree is a strong fit if you are a fire or EMT apprentice, a fire science student or someone focused on working in EMS rather than pursuing other health care careers. Meeting with an Emergency Medical Services advisor is recommended to help you choose the pathway that best matches your goals.
This program offers a more streamlined route to paramedic training because it does not require the anatomy and physiology series. You begin with Emergency Medical Technician training, then move into advanced paramedic coursework that builds skills in patient care, emergency response and crisis management. Through hands-on labs, simulations and supervised practicum experiences, you gain real-world experience and confidence working with fire and EMS teams across Southern Oregon. When you complete the degree, you are eligible to take the National Registry Paramedic cognitive exam and pursue Oregon Paramedic licensure.
