The Cost of Attendance (COA), also called your “student budget,” is the total amount it should cost to attend Rogue Community College for a full academic year (fall-spring), including tuition and fees, housing and food, books and supplies, transportation, and personal and incidental expenses. Childcare costs for eligible FAFSA dependents may also be included if you are seeking loans.

Your COA is used to calculate financial aid. Grants, loans and scholarships cannot exceed this amount. RCC determines your COA based on your enrollment level, living in-district or out-of-district, and dependency status. Because COA uses average costs for housing, food and transportation, your actual cost of living may differ significantly from the school’s estimate. Similarly, your awarded aid may not cover your full COA. Understanding your COA helps you plan your finances and make the most of the aid available to you.

Your COA is determined by the Financial Aid Office and varies depending on the number of credits you take each term.

The budget includes typical expenses students encounter while attending RCC:

  • Tuition and Fees — RCC’s per-credit tuition rate is set annually by the Board of Education. This estimate assumes 13 credits per term for full-time enrollment. Standard fees are included based on enrollment level.
  • Books and Supplies — Average costs for required textbooks and course materials.
  • Housing and Food — Average costs for shelter and meals, based on double occupancy and off-campus housing.
  • Personal and Transportation — Estimates for personal items, clothing, recreation and travel.
  • Loan Fees — Covers a portion of the fee for students receiving federal student loans from RCC.

A standard budget does not always reflect the needs of all students. If you have extra expenses related to a computer purchase (needed for school), out-of-pocket medical/dental costs or materials for your program, review the Budget Revision Form and reach out to your Financial Aid Advisor if you have questions. Even when an increased budget is approved, it does not necessarily lead to additional aid eligibility.
