Balancing school and family life can be a lot, but you don’t have to do it alone. Rogue Community College is here to support students who are parents, caregivers and family members with resources that help you stay on track academically while caring for the people who matter most.

Lactation Rooms
Private lactation spaces are available across RCC campuses. Locations can be found
on campus maps.

Parents and Families Club
This student club supports parents and families of all types by creating opportunities for connection,
networking and fun. It’s a great way to meet other students balancing school and family
life.
If you are pregnant or parenting, you have rights under Title IX to help you stay on track in your classes. RCC will:
- Excuse pregnancy- or childbirth-related absences for as long as your doctor says it is necessary.
- Allow you to return to the same academic and extracurricular status as before your leave.
- Provide opportunities to make up missed work without penalty.
- Ensure instructors accommodate missed participation or attendance requirements.
- Offer access to services similar to those provided for temporary medical conditions, including homebound instruction, tutoring or independent study.
If you experience challenges receiving these accommodations, RCC staff can help advocate for you.
Employment Related Day Care (ERDC)
ERDC helps families pay for child care, including registration fees. Recent updates make
it easier for students to qualify:
- Students may qualify even if they are not currently working.
- Additional hours are available to support study time.
- Expanded eligibility for part-time, night shift workers and caregivers.
Families may pay a portion of childcare costs (copay), depending on eligibility.
Oregon Student Child Care Grant
This grant program helps parents enrolled in postsecondary education access safe, dependable childcare
so they can complete their academic programs.
Paid Leave Oregon
If you’ve worked at least 90 days and earned $1,000, you may qualify for paid leave
for:
- Family leave
- Medical leave
- Safe leave
- Foster placement (pre-placement leave)

Transitioning out of the foster system at age 18? Hearts with a Mission has an Independent Living Program for youth aging out of foster care. This is a state-sponsored program, and Hearts with a Mission also provides housing for youth transitioning out of foster care. Follow the link for more information about how the state program works. Hearts With a Mission is our Jackson and Josephine County provider.

- Growing Together Family Community Center (Grants Pass) — Playgroups, parenting classes and diaper closet.
- Maslow Project — Family advocates can help with school enrollment, transportation, basic needs, health care and more.
- Newborn diapers — Newborn diaper distribution available for Oregonians (no eligibility required). Contact Community Partnership Coordinator, Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS), 458-209-1425.
- Oregon Child Support Program — Learn about services and apply for child support through the Oregon Department of Justice.
- Preschool Finder — Helps families find free or low-cost preschool options. More info can be found on the bilingual Preschool Finder Flyer.
- Southern Oregon Youth Works — Employment preparation and exploration opportunities for Jackson and Josephine county residents ages 16 to 24.

Mid Rogue Foundation Mobile Navigators: In Josephine County, the Mid Rogue Foundation provides mobile navigators who meet students where they are to connect them with community resources, including housing and transportation support, job search assistance, legal referrals, and enrollment in programs such as SNAP and OHP.
