Early College courses are official Rogue Community College classes. You are expected to meet the same academic standards as all RCC students.
Understanding these expectations will help you navigate the college environment and decide if Early College is the right fit.
As an Early College student, you take classes alongside other RCC students and manage your coursework independently. College‑level courses move at a faster pace and require strong organization, time management and self‑motivation.
Academic Expectations
RCC expects honesty, fairness, respect and responsibility in all coursework.
Violations of academic integrity include, but are not limited to:
- Plagiarism.
- Cheating.
- Unauthorized collaboration.
- Fabrication or falsification of work.
- Submitting the same work for multiple classes without permission.
Students who violate academic integrity standards may be subject to disciplinary action.
Student Rights, Freedoms and Responsibilities [6.3.3.1.266]
RCC supports an open learning environment where:
- Faculty are free to teach.
- Students are free to learn.
- Ideas can be discussed openly and respectfully.
- College courses may include discussions on a wide range of topics, including subjects that require maturity and respect for different perspectives.
- Coursework meets college-level expectations for reading, writing and participation.
- Grades are assigned by RCC faculty and are final.
- Grades become part of a permanent RCC transcript.
- Grades may affect future enrollment and financial aid eligibility.
Students must meet all assignment deadlines and attendance requirements.
If a student stops attending or does not complete coursework, they will receive the grade earned.
To avoid a final grade:
- Students must drop a course by the drop deadline.
- Students may withdraw by the withdrawal deadline to receive a “W.”
A “W” does not affect GPA but may impact financial aid and completion rates.
Students are financially responsible for courses after the drop deadline.
A student’s completion rate is important for future academic standing and financial aid eligibility.
The following grades may negatively affect completion rate:
- F, Z, NP, W, I or Y.
Student Responsibility
As an Early College student, you are responsible for:
- Managing your time and coursework.
- Tracking deadlines.
Participating in class. - Communicating directly with instructors.
RCC does not provide parent-teacher conferences. Faculty communicate directly with students.
- Students are the primary point of contact for academic matters.
- Faculty are not required to communicate with parents or guardians.
- Parents or guardians may participate in meetings only when appropriate and with student consent.
At the college level, educational records belong to the student.
Parents and guardians do not have automatic access.
Students must provide written consent to share information.
Information may be shared without consent only in limited cases, such as financial aid or verified dependency.
Students are financially responsible for courses after the drop deadline.
Unpaid balances may result in late fees or collections activity.
Students are not eligible for federal financial aid until they complete a high school diploma or GED®.
Students should work with their high school liaison to confirm course approval and payment arrangements.
College Environment and Safety
RCC campuses are open to the public. Students may interact with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds.
Students are expected to:
- Be aware of their surroundings.
- Act responsibly and respectfully.
- Report safety concerns to staff or security.
RCC provides campus security and emergency alert systems.
- RCC provides access to library and internet resources to support academic work.
- Access is not censored or filtered.
Resources must be used for legitimate academic purposes.
Support Services and Accommodations
RCC provides support services to help students succeed.
Students must request accommodations through Access & Disability Resources.
Documentation is required.
Requests should be made at least six weeks before the term begins.
Students must be able to navigate campus and manage personal needs independently or with a personal attendant.

RCC does not support truancy and requires authorization for classes taken during the high school day.
