Apprenticeships are special admission programs with their own eligibility and application requirements. Apprentices in the Millwright link, Boiler Operator link and Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic link programs can pursue the Industrial Mechanics & Maintenance Technology AAS degree while completing their apprenticeship. Step 1: Apply and Be Accepted into an RCC Apprenticeship Program
You must first be accepted into one of these apprenticeship programs: HVAC/R, Plumber
or Sheet Metal Worker. Application processes and timelines vary by trade, so reviewing
the program page for your chosen trade is an important first step.
Step 2: Apply to Rogue Community College
Applying to RCC is free and only takes a few minutes online. Once you are admitted,
you will have access to advising and planning support.
Step 3: Complete the RCC Placement Process
Placement helps identify which math and writing classes are the best fit for you based
on your background, experience and goals.
Step 4: Attend a New Student Orientation
Provides crucial information on campus resources, academic expectations and student
life, helping you feel more prepared and connected.
Step 5: Meet With an Academic Advisor
An academic advisor will help you understand the Program Map, plan your coursework
and align your classes with your apprenticeship training.
Step 6: Declare Your Certificate or Degree
Once you are accepted into an RCC apprenticeship program, you can choose to earn an
academic certificate or degree alongside your apprenticeship training. While optional,
these credentials can help you document your skills and support future career advancement.
You are not required to pursue a certificate or degree, but many apprentices choose to do so to maximize the value of their training. While completing apprenticeship requirements or waiting for placement, you may also take general education courses, electives or other programs that support your interests and career goals. An apprenticeship pathway can be your primary academic focus or one part of a broader educational plan.
