Board Responsibilities
The Board of Education consists of seven elected members who serve four-year terms and represent designated zones across Jackson and Josephine counties. Board members do not have contractual, employment or financial interests in the college.
The Board hires the college president, sets policies and approves the strategic plan and budget. Board members also participate in statewide leadership through representation on the Oregon Community College Association Board website.
New Board members take an oath of office before beginning their service, as required by Oregon law.

The Board establishes and regularly reviews college policies that guide operations and decision-making. Policies are developed and maintained in collaboration with college administrators and are reviewed on a defined schedule, with updates made as needed.

Public Meetings & Grievances
The Oregon Government Ethics Commission enforces public meetings law. If you believe a violation has occurred, you must submit a written grievance to the Board of Education within 30 days of the meeting.
