The Pre-Dental Assisting Career Pathway Certificate is a special admission program designed to make it easier to begin your journey toward a career in dental assisting. Unlike many healthcare programs, you do not need to complete prerequisite college courses before applying. The program is ideal for students who prefer a part-time schedule, are balancing work or family responsibilities or are still completing high school requirements.

The program begins each winter term and follows a structured cohort model over five terms. During the program, you will complete the prerequisite coursework needed for admission to RCC's Dental Assistant Certificate program while building foundational skills in dental assisting.

To continue into the summer Dental Assistant Certificate cohort, students must:

  • Complete all required coursework in the Pre-Dental Assisting Career Pathway Certificate.
  • Meet program academic standards.
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED® by the end of spring term in the second year of the program.
  • Be at least 18 years old by July 1 following spring term of the second year of the program.
  • Complete required health and immunization requirements.
  • Complete a criminal background check.
  • Complete a drug screening.
  • Pay any fees associated with required screening processes.

Important updates, deadlines and program information are sent to your RCC student email throughout the program. Checking your email regularly will help you stay informed and prepared for each step in the process.
