The Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer degree is a two-year program designed for students who intend to transfer to an Oregon university. Completion of the degree will satisfy lower division general education requirements and ensures junior standing at a university for registration purposes. Additionally, with careful planning, students may satisfy many of the lower division courses required in their academic majors.
Students should be aware, however, that if they transfer before completing this degree, their courses will be evaluated individually toward the general education requirements of the school of their choice. Students are encouraged to work closely with their academic advisors to maximize the benefits of this degree.
Your AAOT Checklist
Stay on Track
- Meet with your academic advisor once per term.
- Review transfer requirements for your target Oregon university.
- Map out which lower division courses you can complete at RCC.
Plan Your Classes
- Complete all required general education courses.
- Choose electives that support your intended major.
- Check that all classes meet AAOT degree requirements.
Before You Transfer
- Confirm you’re on track to complete the full AAOT.
- Request unofficial transcripts to double-check completed credits.
- Ask your advisor about any remaining degree or transfer steps.
Advanced standing may be available for:
- Previous college coursework.
- College Now credit.
- Approved transfer courses from Oregon community colleges.
Graduation Requirements
You must complete a minimum of 90 college-level credits with a minimum grade of “C-” or better, including at least one course designated as meeting cultural literacy criteria. You must also have a 2.0 cumulative GPA at the time the AAOT is awarded.
If you want to transfer to a public university in Oregon, you must meet the world language requirement. You can do this with two years of the same language in high school or two terms in college. Taking your first year of language at RCC makes transfer easier, and RCC offers both Spanish and American Sign Language (ASL).
