Entry Requirements
Before you get started, it helps to understand how this program works. The Construction Trades, General Apprenticeship Certificate is available only to students who are accepted into an approved Rogue Community College apprenticeship program. You earn college credit while completing your apprenticeship, allowing you to make steady progress toward a certificate without adding extra time. This is a special admission program, and you must meet specific entry requirements before applying.
Admission Requirements
Because this is a special admission program, you must meet the following requirements to be considered:
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Hold a high school diploma or GED®.
- Be accepted into an approved RCC apprenticeship program.
- Complete one year of algebra, or an equivalent course, with a grade of C or better or place into the required math level.
- Complete required placement steps.
- Submit a completed program application by the posted deadline.
Applying for an apprenticeship can take time, and available openings may be limited. For some trades, being placed in an applicant pool does not guarantee immediate employment, as candidates are contacted when openings become available. Many students continue working while they wait to be placed.
Participating in a pre-apprenticeship program through your high school, Southern Oregon Education Service District or the Crater Lake Electrical Training Center can be a helpful way to explore whether an apprenticeship is right for you while building hands-on skills. Pre-apprenticeship programs do not guarantee direct entry into RCC apprenticeship programs.
Graduation Requirements
The Construction Trades, General Apprenticeship Certificate Program requires the completion of 10-11 general education credits in addition to 36-48 credits, depending on your apprenticeship program. Students must complete all courses outlined in this program with a grade of “C” or better to earn this certificate. Students must also possess the appropriate Bureau of Labor and Industries Apprenticeship Certificate and be recommended by the Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee or the Trades Apprenticeship and Training Committee. This certificate does not guarantee licensure.

Credit for Prior Learning
The Construction Trades General Apprenticeship Certificate may be eligible for Credit for Prior Learning, meaning your work experience, training or other learning outside the classroom could count for college credit — helping you save time and reduce costs.
