Earlier this month, RCC student-athletes, coaches, our athletic director and a member of the High School Partnerships team joined forces with the American Red Cross during the “Sound the Alarm” event to help make our community safer. This marks the second year RCC Athletics has participated in the event.

Saturday morning began with training focused on educating residents about common fire dangers in the home, creating evacuation plans with a designated rendezvous point, and testing and installing smoke detectors.

By the end of the day, the team had installed 20 smoke detectors in East Medford and provided fire safety education to many more community members. Not only did they spend their free time giving back, but their efforts may have helped save lives.

RCC also partners with the American Red Cross throughout the year to host blood drives across all three campuses, continuing the college’s commitment to serving and supporting our community.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this partnership possible. We love seeing Ospreys making a difference in our community.
