Foundation Scholarships

Who Can Apply

You are eligible if you: 

• Are a current or incoming RCC student with RCC login credentials.
• Have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
• Plan to take 6 or more credits in fall 2026. 

Exception: If you will complete your RCC degree in spring 2026 with a 2.5 or higher GPA and plan to transfer to Oregon State University, Oregon Institute of Technology, Portland State University or Southern Oregon University in fall 2026, complete the Matriculation Scholarship Application instead of the General Scholarship Application. 

Tip: Submit your FAFSA or ORSAA as soon as possible to be considered for need-based scholarships.

When to Apply

The scholarship application for the academic school year:

• Opens: Feb. 1
• Early Bird deadline: April 1
• Closes: June 1

Apply by April 1 for a chance to win a $1,000 Early Bird Scholarship. 

Tip: New scholarships are added throughout the application cycle. Re-submit your application before June 1 to be considered for any new opportunities that match your profile. 

Cohort-Specific Scholarships

Some programs, such as Nursing or Emergency Medical Technician, may offer scholarships at other times during the year. Watch your RCC Student Email for invitations.

• About 1 in 3 applicants receive a scholarship.
• Average award is around $3,000.
• The RCC Foundation awards about $1 million each year.

How to Apply

• Log in to ScholarshipUniverse using your RCC Student Email and password.
• Contact Student Computer Support if you need support logging in to ScholarshipUniverse.
• Answer questions to see which scholarships fit your profile.
• Apply for every scholarship you match to.

• Check your RCC Student Email and text messages for updates.
• Visit your ScholarshipUniverse dashboard anytime to track your progress.

After You Apply

• Watch for award emails in late July.
• Review your award details, including scholarship name, amount and requirements.
• Submit your online thank-you letter by the deadline listed in your award email.

Your scholarship will appear in your Financial Aid Award Letter (see MyFinAid) and apply to your RCC account before each term. If funds remain after your tuition and fees are paid, you will receive a refund through your selected payment method, usually around the second week of the term.

If you are unable to meet scholarship requirements, you may request an exception.

External Scholarships through Scholarship Universe

Scholarship Universe also connects you to thousands of scholarships from outside organizations. 

• Review each scholarship for its specific deadline.
• Submit a separate application for each opportunity.
• Mark each application as submitted in Scholarship Universe.
• Check your email, including spam folders, for messages from scholarship donors.
