Emergency Medical Technician Course Entry Process

The 2026 EMT entry process opens April 1, 2026.

Please read all of this information carefully as these details outline specific requirements to gain acceptance into the EMT course. Our EMT courses are classified as Special Admissions, they require a seperate process (after applying to RCC) prior to acceptance.

Important information about our EMT courses:

  • These courses fill quickly, do not delay in completing the entry process. Most courses fill 3-5 months in advance!
  • Review the EMS Planning Tool for specifics on vaccine and CPR requirements
  • Interested students are NOT accepted until ALL portions of the EMT entry process are complete.
  • Background check and drug screen information will be provided by email with a specific code AFTER acceptance. DO NOT complete your own drug screen or background check as they will not be accepted.

Steps to Join RCC's EMT Course

  1. Become a student at RCC
  2. Complete the placement process
  3. Visit the Qualified First Background Info Center
  4. Enter the code DDCBK-22266 in the "First Time Users" section.
  5. Complete the demographics section, create an account, and pay the $35 plus the processing fee.
  6. Review and upload the required documentation.
  7. Once complete, Nadean Friesen will email you with information detailing the next step. Your position in the course of your choice (if available) will be reserved at that time.

For details on the EMT entry process, please email Nadean Friesen at [email protected].
