Description
Provides an overview of important principles, concepts and topics in biology. Designed for non-majors or those interested in learning more about biology. Science majors and pre-allied health professionals should take the 200-level biology series. Topics covered include atoms and molecules, basic chemistry, cell structure and function, cell respiration, cell division, photosynthesis, DNA structure, protein synthesis, and basic genetics.

  • Offered as a Web-based class over the Internet. Information about Web-based classes and required orientations are at https://roguecc.blackboard.com. All online teachers expect students to participate in the class by Wednesday of the first week of the term. Students not participating during the first week may be subject to administrative drop. Check the syllabus and course orientation for participation requirements. Students may be required to have a web cam and audio capabilities on their computer for online courses.
  • Students must enroll in the lab that matches the day(s) of the lecture for which they are registering.
  • Students must purchase a lab kit for this course that will cost approximately $179. Contact the instructor for ordering information.
  • Distance learning fee of $40, in addition to regular tuition, will be assessed.
